My nephew used my tablet and PHOTOSHOP to draw an awesome picture! We learned about the paint bucket tool, the paintbrush, the eraser, how to copy stuff, and even layers! I had to help pick colors but they turned out great Tony wanted me to post this so he could get some feedback! Heres what he has to say about the picture: "It's about a man screaming at the sky and the sky is raining rubber chickens, but only at him. And... he's in the city surrounded by his neighbors who are not home. Hope you like it!" -Tony Sergio, age 8 |

animation bla bla http://www.howtotrainyourdragon.com/Watch the trailer. Movie looks like it could be super cute! I'm getting all sorts of Linguini vibes from the main kid, though, hmm. The viking chicks are too cute, really unclassically adorable which is great. Also, please watch the trailer for this: http://www.baidir.fr/and get absolute GOOSEBUMPS. I guess it's going to be a series? I can't find much information on it, but I guess some guys from Gobelins is/was working on it. Sweeeeet. I'd like to know more Also, I watched Monsters vs. Aliens with my nephew a couple days ago. While it really wasn't amazing, and the humans had wretched designs, I have to say that I really liked Susan's character development. She went from wanting nothing more in life than to be a blushing bride to suddenly wanting nothing more than to be a giant woman who fights robots. Like, it wasn't just a metaphor to be more self confident, she literally wanted to fight things and be huge and punch through steel. That was really fun And there was a bit in the movie where a couple at lovers lane sees a spaceship crash land, and I just loved how the roles were reversed in that scene. The girl was trying to get into the guys pants, and he was terrified of the spaceship and the girl wanted to go check it out. That was really great, I'm sure it went right over the heads of kids SO. Is there anything amazing coming out any time soon? Princess And The Frog is looking better all the time, honestly! I really hope it does not suck I can already tell that Dr. Facillier is gonna be one of my fav disney villains I love voodoo stuff in movies |

FA issue
I discovered something with FA (or should I say with some artists) where they will post an image in the thumbnail which has NOTHING to do with the actual image they posted. Now, I can understand this if what is posted is music, story or video, but with artwork, the thumbnail SHOULD represent the actual image. Though, it doesn't happen very often, I find it quite disconcerting... Sorry about the rant. Move along.... move along :P Current Mood: drained |

You learn something new everyday ^_^
During the brief time I lived in Houston, Texas.. I was introduced to what was called (at one of the local donut shops) a "Kolache". Though, a little research shows that what I actually had was a klobasnek which either way is of Czech origin. I didn't know this? They came in either ham and cheese or sausage and cheese. I loved these things, but they just simply are not available anywhere around where I live. This is one of the few things I miss from living down there. Though, I just thought it was either Texas thing or possibly a Hispanic thing. I guess I was wrong. I wonder why they aren't popular in more places? Current Mood: good |

A Very unusual VCR from 1987
Back in 1987, I was working for Gene's TV Service in both Zenith TV and VCR sales and service. Zenith came out with two VERY unique Video Recorders. Both in an upright vertical form, sort of like a Mini-Tower computer case. When I saw these beauties, I decided I HAD to have one! And as such, I did ^_^ Video magazine and Video Review gave the HiFi model great reviews. The same model I bought. Here they are. Video Magazine January 1988 page oneVideo Magazine January 1988 page twoVideo Review Magazine January 1988 page oneVideo Review Magazine January 1988 page twoI have always been impressed with this VCRs performance. Though, I did have one problem with it. The vertical style causes dust to collect on the side of the video drum, which if a tape is started, it will damage the tape and possibly damage the heads :( Fortunately, I found out from servicing another VCR belonging to someone else, and always kept mine clean. It still works fine, but needs a rubber idler tire replaced or reconditioned. The non-HiFi model had an unusual feature of double speed playback with sound. It had an audio processor which downshifted the pitch so voices would sound closer to normal, rather than sound like the Chipmunks ;) You could watch a movie in half the time! Such unique machines. To my knowledge, they were a Zenith exclusive, though they were manufactured by JVC in Japan. |

Linguistics fun
Here is a field recording from some of the early research into ǃXóõ, a click language which has the most distinct sounds (consonants and vowels) of any known language. The recording in the language itself starts at 2:45 - it's incredible and kind of funny to listen to. (If you want to know how "ǃXóõ" itself is pronounced, listen to the first 20 seconds or so.) http://archive.phonetics.ucla.edu/Language/NMN/nmn_story_1972_01.mp3 |

A toy folks might be interested in.
A very good friend of mine got a toy on Patchtogether approved, which takes about 50 votes to get it there but now since it's available for pre-order a total of 4 people have put in their names for buying them. This isn't a pity plea or anything, just trying to get the word out and see if anyone's interested in buying a neat little figure like this. http://patchtogether.com/store/store/view/id/166 Current Mood: hopeful |

Characters
A character is a person with a collapsed wavefunction. They are not enslaved by maybes. They can be defined, given enough time, if you get to know them; their value can be expressed on paper. I have always wanted to be a character. Walker Percy does a strange thing in his novel The Last Gentleman. His main character isn't a character. He battles with maybes and doesn't always win. He is neither a hero nor a villain nor a combination of the two; he is just an assortment of minor goods and minor evils. The book offers questions and few answers. I think it was written so people like me could relate. Current Mood: undefinedCurrent Music: The Juliana Theory - August in Bethany |
